With temperatures that can soar into the 110s during the summer here in Phoenix, we need a respite to beat the heat and doing anything that involves water is gladly welcomed. And even though the closest ocean is 4 hours away in Mexico, that doesn’t mean that we can’t be creative and throw our own version of an ocean-inspired dinner party. Here’s how I did it by incorporating colors from the sea and waves of blue!

Entertaining poolside calls for shatterproof and unbreakable dinnerware and that’s where melamine comes in. Melamine has come a long way in the past few years, with dishes that look like stoneware and aged ceramic, its virtually impossible to tell that’s it not the real thing unless you’re holding it.

An ocean-inspired dinner party calls for what else other than seafood! I purchased the ahi poke at a reputable fishmonger, made the salad and picked up the shrimp cocktail at Costco – pretty easy!
I hope you enjoyed my ocean-inspired dinner party! For more ideas on how to entertain by the water, check out my Poolside Entertaining post.
