Backyard Pool House Interior Design Tour

It took almost 5 months to build, from start to finish, but once it was complete, our pool house was ready to be used and loved! While the actual construction of it was fun to watch, it was the interior design of our pool house that made it a reality for me. Drawing inspiration from countless photos on Pinterest of other pool houses, I enlisted the help of my designer, Susan Rose of Willows Design, to bring my vision to life. This is where I always use the interior design pros to deliver what I want – they have the resources and know-how to get the job done right and on time! If the decorating were up to me, it would take forever, so I needed someone to help me make those decisions and narrow down choices for me.

Black resin planters with drought-resistant plants give some color and vibrance to the exterior

The outdoor covered shower was the inspiration for the building design – we wanted to the 14 foot tall marble subway tile wall to be the showcase. We chose marble mosaic tile that required lot of grout for the shower floor – this ensured more grip = no slip.

A massive outdoor lantern automatically turns on at dusk – it illuminates the center part of the pool house perfectly and the exposed rafters give it a lofty feel
The pool house interior has two sides, one is the bathroom, the other side is the dressing room.

I had these personalized sun hats made on Etsy – I love the extra touch they lend to the shiplap walls

An outlet next to the vanity ensures that if anyone needs to dry their hair, there’s electricity!

Two modern sconces flank the marble vanity, while the seagrass mirror gives the bathroom a beachy cabana vibe
adjustable arm light
A glass light with an extendable arm allows us to adjust it if necessary

Making sure that the pool house interior had extra storage space was a priority – more room for my entertaining arsenal!

Now, our guests don’t have to go inside to use the restroom when we are entertaining outdoors – such a bonus!

Charcoal porcelain tiles with a non-slip texture are perfect for a surface that gets wet and doesn’t need to be wiped off

The dressing room has a bench with lots of towels, and bins with goggles, sunscreen and extra bathing suits for those who may have forgotten theirs

A corner table with iron legs and a marble top was custom made to fit this specific space.

A dainty white box holds makeup removers so that mascara and makeup can be wiped off – essential for girls!
An extra pouf in the dressing room gives a bit of bohemian feel and softens the space
