Here’s a recipe for dessert on the grill – perfect for camping or your next BBQ: Apple Cobbler Tin Foil Packets. It doesn’t require a lot of ingredients and can be prepared ahead of time and since the apples are cooked anyway, you don’t have to worry about them browning. Each guest gets their own packet, so an assembly line works really well here.

Make the topping first
Ingredients for topping (serves 4)
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 cup brown sugar, packed
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup old fashioned oats
1/2 teaspoon ground cinamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup cold butter, cut into cubes
Directions for topping
- Mix all ingredients, except butter, in a bowl.
- Using a pastry cutter or your hands, mash butter into the oats mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Adding the oats for a delicious topping

Next, cut your apple into slices and core. Plan on 1 apple for 2 people
Spread a thin layer of butter on each piece of tin foil
A squeeze of lemon lends to the tartness of the fresh apples
Sprinkle the topping on the apples
Fold up packets tightly
Place on medium-high grill and cook with lid closed for 20 mins
Voila! Serve each guest their own dessert packet. Top with ice cream for an extra bonus!
