I was never a big fan of New Year’s Eve until I started hosting my own dinner parties. In the past I always thought it was such a let down of a night, maybe because the build-up to midnight is so over-exaggerated and the decline after the revelry was so severe. But, that all changed when I took charge of this holiday that I was thought was destined for doom. If I could look forward to this night, then surely others could too. Making sure to go all-out with a super sparkly, gold and glamorous New Year’s Eve dinner and tablescape, this is how I did it!
The Place Setting
Faux shagreen square placemats were a great base for the mounds of layering I did with the plates. I can definitely use these placemats year-round and I love that they are square – a bit different than the usual rectangular or round placemats.
No detail was spared here and there was no limit to how much gold I used, which definitely made it over-the-top. But if there’s one holiday where it’s okay to do this, it’s New Year’s Eve.
Muted gold silk napkins were centered by a chunky gold nugget napkin ring – I loved the juxtaposition between light and heavy.

The Centerpiece
When I saw this huge hourglass, I knew it was perfect for my table. It has enough gold sand for 3 hours. Start your dinner party at 9pm and when it’s empty, it’s time to ring in the new year!
Extra Details
I always like to give a party favor, so these mini-gold hourglass ornaments were placed at everyone ‘s setting. I simply tied a gift tag as a name card with white and gold string and wrote on them with a gold marker.

Hello! I’m so sorry I’m just now seeing this! Spam on my account has made it very difficult to weed through the nice comments like yours! I got them at Z Gallerie. They are called Halo chargers, and this color is champagne. I just checked and they still have them in stock! Thank you again for your kind comment and for following! Love the positive feedback – hope you stick around for more fun party ideas and tables capes! xoxo
