moroccan party — Pillows, lanterns, rugs and lot of teenage girls equals one perfect moroccan-inspired birthday party

My kids have finally embraced my passion for throwing a good party and setting a pretty great table – or at least their friends have. So when my teenage daughter was thinking about her birthday party, she accepted my offer to plan it for her. We settled on a hip Morrocan Party, and chose the shade of our massive elm tree to canopy the dinner, with everything on the grass – lawn picnic style.

moroccan party — Every girl’s lawn picnic birthday party needs flowers – these blush peonies in white vases oozed teenage girl!

moroccan party — My friends at Harmony Boards really came through and delivered a beautiful fruit and cheese board and two veggie boards for the lawn picnic – the girls were thrilled to snack on these throughout the night. Stunning and functional!

backyard party — We strung lights from the trees, then hung more metal and paper lanterns to create a true Moroccan party vibe

moroccan party — Pink peonies were in season for my daughter”s birthday party – so lucky that Trader Joe’s had a huge selection of these beauties!

girl birthday party — World Market’s Sparkling Pink Lemonade and Limeade were huge hits and blended in with my Moroccan party color scheme

lanterns — Palmer was close by to make sure no food was dropped or wasted

lawn picnic — An overhead shot of this fun table! The rugs helped define the space and gave softness to the area. I used a patio coffee table and covered it with a white linen tablecloth to give a low-to-the-ground lawn picnic feel!

teenage girl party — The girls had such a great time and were so grateful to be included in a special night to celebrate my daughter

moroccan party — Wooden bowls with etching, planted at both ends of the table, were great for holding bread, crackers and pita slices to dip the hummus in.

veggie board — How gorgeous is this bounty of fresh vegetables? There were a few vegetarians at the party, so this ensured they had something to eat too!

cheese board — LED candles with decorative exteriors were the girls’ favors – they added to the eclectic Moroccan party ambiance as well

lanterns — White metal lanterns that look they were straight from Marakesh were perfect for the lawn picnic party – I added flameless candles for soft, warm ambient lighting
